Project Title: Development of Dedicated Arbroath Smokie Brand Website & Comprehensive Digital Presence
Appetite for Angus is seeking a digital partner to develop the definitive online home for the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) product, the Arbroath Smokie. This project requires a collaborative supplier who can commit to a development and launch phase of 3-6 months, commencing in January 2026.

Appetite for Angus are the Regional Food Group for the Angus area. We are a member organisation focused on promoting, celebrating, and supporting the food & drink landscape of Angus, and we are part of a network of groups across Scotland which are coordinated by Scotland Food & Drink.

Scope of Work Required:
We require a supplier to deliver a comprehensive, modern, and mobile-responsive website with an easy-to-use Content Management System (CMS), along with supporting digital assets. The scope includes, but is not limited to:
- Website Creation & Content Architecture:
- Design and build a single brand home for the Arbroath Smokie, using domain structure/links such as arbroathsmokie.com, .info, or .org.uk.
- Develop dedicated, engaging sections to cover all aspects of the product and its location, including:
- History & Heritage (including detailed information on PGI Status).
- Where to Buy (including map/directory of producers and retailers).
- How to Prep and Recipe Ideas (searchable/filterable content).
- Where to Enjoy (Directory of restaurants and food outlets).
- We will require the supplier to:
- Implement robust features for displaying new images, features, and video content to ‘put Smokies on the food map’. Please note we will have separate budget to create new video content & photography.
- Ensure proper back-linking and integration with existing associated assets.
- Digital Integration & Linking.
- Seamlessly link, promote, and integrate content related to existing assets, including:
- Smokie Fest Website
- The Arbroath Smokie Trail
- Seagreen Smokie Shack (working title)
- Smokie Champion Awards
Branding & Design Assets:
Creation of stand-alone logos and graphics (or complementary branding) for the new website and associated social media platforms.
Social Media Setup & Strategy:
Creation, setup, and initial branding/content planning for dedicated social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) designed to drive awareness and traffic to the new website.
Project Objectives & Outcomes:
The purpose of this project is to create the authoritative, definitive online resource for the Arbroath Smokie.
To establish a strong digital brand identity that reflects the heritage and quality of the PGI product.
To support local producers and businesses by providing clear ‘where to buy’ and ‘where to enjoy’ information.
To drive visitor engagement for Arbroath and associated events like Smokie Fest and The Smokie Trail.
To create a sustainable, engaging platform that can be easily updated with new recipes, history, and video content.

- Your costs (clearly broken down for each phase of work).
- Your proposed timelines, detailing how you will manage the 3-6 month collaborative period starting in January 2026.
- Contact details for references (you can also include testimonials in your submission).
How We Will Choose (Evaluation)
When evaluating your submission, we will consider and evaluate:
- Your understanding of the long-term project needs and vision.
- Your experience with similar food/tourism/PGI branding and website projects.
- How good your proposed plan is, particularly for the 3-6 month collaborative phase.
- The cost of your proposal and the proposed development timeframe.
