THRIVE is a free collaborative initiative from SRUC, Queen Margaret University and Abertay University, supporting the next generation of food & drink and rural enterprise entrepreneurs. Following a successful first year in 2021, we have developed another exciting programme for THRIVE in 2022. THRIVE will run on two consecutive Saturdays – an online Business Skills day on 5 November and a face-to-face & hybrid Food Product Development day at QMU Edinburgh on 12 November.

Disruption is often the driver of enterprise & entrepreneurial activity and THRIVE will help budding entrepreneurs to gain essential business skills and knowledge to support their business idea – whether product or service.  Sessions include concept development, planning, marketing, pitching, nutrition, finding a co-packer, food legislation and will also facilitate access to general business support information. Whether your idea is a new product or a food and drink-related rural diversification, this programme could benefit you.  The THRIVE team brings its commercial market experience to this initiative to support the growth and development of new micro and SME businesses.

Feedback from THRIVE 2021 was extremely positive with delegates telling us that they found the two days ‘invaluable’, ‘transformative’ and ‘packed full of great advice’.  At the end of Day Two participants will also have the opportunity, if they wish, to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges from the food & drink industry to gain valuable feedback in a safe environment.
