Designed to facilitate opportunities for engagement and business between producers and wholesalers, the Meet the Wholesaler event will follow a series of workshops that will provide the tools and information needed to maximise opportunities when working together.
The event will now take place on Tuesday, 15 March which is different to the date that was originally communicated, this is to avoid a clash with another industry event.
Event Information
The Meet the Wholesaler will be in person and take place at Dunblane Hydro, 9:30-3:15pm.
The day will consist of a series of short one-to-one meetings in the morning, followed by a lunch showcasing Scottish produce, then a producer exhibition in the afternoon. One to one meetings will be agreed in advance of the event using a simple diary system, further details to follow on this.
As well as the one-to-one meeting that will be requested by wholesalers, producers will be also given the opportunity engage with wholesaler representatives during the exhibition element of the day.
The event is open to all producers and wholesalers in Scotland. Attendance is free with limited places and producers may be required to pay a deposit, repayable upon attendance. We would encourage wholesalers to register multiple representatives to maximise meeting opportunities with producers across the day.
Applications for the event close on Monday, 24 January—successful applicants will be informed of their acceptance by mid-February.

The Knowledge Bank: Who’s Buying it? The UK Online Food and Drink Shopper 2022 – Scotland Food & Drink
10-Feb-2022 (14:00-15:30)With grocery Ecommerce on the rise, accelerated by the pandemic, there are great opportunities but also potential pitfalls with this emerging channel. It’s essential that we understand who exactly our best potential shoppers are so that we can focus resources, improve the whole online shopping experience to drive up basket size and value and increase sales.
This session will do exactly that, exploring the findings of unique research into the UK online food and drink shopper, commissioned by The Knowledge Bank specifically for Scotland’s food and drink producers.
The study segments the online shopper into clearly defined, targetable groups enhanced by adding richness of detail around attitudes to food and drink, Scottish provenance and the key drivers for their online grocery shopping.
The presenters will bring the shopper segments to life in a lively webinar with plenty of opportunity to quiz the team on their knowledge of the consumers in this exciting and challenging channel.
The segmentation study report will be available online on TKB website post event.

Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce Present Local Food For Everyone
15-Nov-2021 (18:00-20:00)What does ‘local food’ mean to you? It doesn’t matter if you’re selling, growing, serving or just eating food, what matters is the approach the region has to local food. Good local food helps to grow the economy, nourish local communities and support a sustainable environment.
This session will be a formal public consultation of which stakeholders views will be captured and fed back to Government. Dundee City Council, Angus Council and Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce invite anyone interested in taking part in the consultation to register to attend.
This interactive workshop will look at how the Scottish Governments new local food plan (LFP), if done well, will have a huge positive impact on the communities, economies and environment of Scotland – and beyond. It will give everyone opportunities to explore what this could mean for where you live, and we hope it will help you to complete the consultation in an informed way.
During this workshop we’ll look to discuss:
- Why is local food important?
- What could a Local Food Plan look like?
- How can Scotland grow more of what it eats and eat more of what it grows?
- How can a local food plan improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in Scotland?
- How can a local food plan make the maximum positive impact on our environment and biodiversity?
Local Food for Everyone Consultation
Everyone, from private individuals to businesses and organisations are invited to help shape a local food strategy for Scotland. This consultation is the first stage in a strategy to make high quality food accessible to all and promote the benefits of local food.

SAC Present -Food Trends and New Product Development
15-Nov-2021 (10:00-11:00)SAC would like to invite you to an online webinar on Food Trends and New Product Development.
The events of 2020 caused a fundamental reset in human behaviour, and we may be in one of the biggest changes in consumer food habits for a generation. With the impact of Brexit, the Covid-19 pandemic, new governmental policy and the general awareness of the consumer on the environmental impact of the food and drink supply chain, several new food trends are coming to the forefront for the industry. Keeping ahead of new consumer trends is always difficult when you’re busy with the day-to-day running of your business. This interactive workshop will look at the key recent food trends and how they are being developed and implemented by the food industry. It will help you consider what’s right for you and what might fit with your business. The workshop will also highlight opportunities to collaborate with SAC Consulting development chefs and take advantage of funding support that is available. The session will also include an overview of the NPD process from a larger food manufacturer perspective and the process they go through to supply new products to a major national retailer.
The session will include presentations from
- Alistair Trail, Senior Food and Enterprise Consultant, SAC Consulting – New food trends
- Morag Hamilton, Product Development Chef, SAC Consulting – Collaborating with SAC Consulting to develop new food products
- Fiona Stott – NPD Manager, Aquascot – Developing new products for Waitrose.

11-Nov-2021 (12:30-15:30)Join us for an afternoon of activities and discussion!
Join Soil Association for a fun and informative afternoon as we join the dots from farm to fork – demonstrating the importance of school meals in the fight against the interconnected climate, nature and health crises.
With more than one third of the greenhouse gas emissions that drive climate change coming from the food system, the public, private and third sectors need to work together if we are to achieve a ‘Good Food Nation’ with access to healthy and sustainable diets for all.
Find out how local authorities, local producers and the Food for Life Scotland team have joined forces to ensure seasonal, environmentally friendly and ethical food is being served in schools.
We’ll be running an in-person drop-in session where you will get the chance to meet caterers from Scotland’s biggest local authority and most recent Food for Life Served Here award holder, Glasgow City Council, and enjoy tasters showcasing innovative and sustainable recipes. There will be interactive activities demonstrating Scotland’s bountiful larder and the opportunity to learn more about local, seasonal produce. Bring along a recipe using Scottish ingredients and you could contribute to our Scottish Sustainable School Meal menu.
Later in the afternoon we’ll be hosting a panel discussion that you can join online. We’ll be hearing from stakeholders across the food supply chain, from farmers to caterers, about what they are doing to address climate change and the part school meals play in this- expect a lively debate!
12:30pm-2pm– in person drop in – Join the Food for Life Scotland team and take part in an interactive session focused on seasonality and provenance, where you’ll get the chance to learn about Scottish produce and get creative with school meal menus. This event is un-ticketed and entry will be granted on a first- come, first-served basis
