Join us for an afternoon of activities and discussion!
Join Soil Association for a fun and informative afternoon as we join the dots from farm to fork – demonstrating the importance of school meals in the fight against the interconnected climate, nature and health crises.
With more than one third of the greenhouse gas emissions that drive climate change coming from the food system, the public, private and third sectors need to work together if we are to achieve a ‘Good Food Nation’ with access to healthy and sustainable diets for all.
Find out how local authorities, local producers and the Food for Life Scotland team have joined forces to ensure seasonal, environmentally friendly and ethical food is being served in schools.
We’ll be running an in-person drop-in session where you will get the chance to meet caterers from Scotland’s biggest local authority and most recent Food for Life Served Here award holder, Glasgow City Council, and enjoy tasters showcasing innovative and sustainable recipes. There will be interactive activities demonstrating Scotland’s bountiful larder and the opportunity to learn more about local, seasonal produce. Bring along a recipe using Scottish ingredients and you could contribute to our Scottish Sustainable School Meal menu.
Later in the afternoon we’ll be hosting a panel discussion that you can join online. We’ll be hearing from stakeholders across the food supply chain, from farmers to caterers, about what they are doing to address climate change and the part school meals play in this- expect a lively debate!
12:30pm-2pm– in person drop in – Join the Food for Life Scotland team and take part in an interactive session focused on seasonality and provenance, where you’ll get the chance to learn about Scottish produce and get creative with school meal menus. This event is un-ticketed and entry will be granted on a first- come, first-served basis
2.30-3.30pm– online panel discussion- Book your spot to join us online for a panel discussion connecting the dots between climate change and school meals
